From bathtime to mealtime and every time in between, Boon has an innovative product to meet the needs of parents and kids alike. In the bathroom, we’ve tried out the multi-functional Frog Pod for keeping toys organized in the bath and are fan of the sleek design of the Potty Bench - though we wish it came with a fool-proof no-more-diapers guarantee.

We also like the modern sentiment in color and style of their new layette items - onesies, footed pajamas, rompers and two-piece sets that come in such patterns as DNA, Pacifier and Squircle.

But it has to the be kitchen where Boon has impressed us the most. Their feeding products truly live up to their motto - innovation for modern parents - and blend simple, clean designs with “why-hasn’t-someone-thought-of-this-before” originality. The Flair Elite high chair offers a pneumatic lift device to ensure that your little one is always at the perfect height while the Squirt is an ingenious product that allows for one-handed infant feeding and easy food-on-the-go.

Once they’re off the mush, we’re fans of the Catch Bowl and Benders utensils for slightly more advanced eaters. And food is just so much more fun with the Groovy interlocking plate and bowl set, the Snack Ball or the unique shape of Fluid.

Add to these innovative products a super-friendly staff and incredible work ethic (10% of Boon’s profits are donated to charity) and you’ve got a company you just can’t go wrong with.

One of our favorite designers of late has been the beautiful and simple furnishings produced by Monte Designs. Owners Ralph and Michelle Montemurro started the company to create nursery furniture that blended seamlessly with the modern decor of their home and now have a collection of six pieces that combine exceptional construction with sleek, contemporary exteriors . We’re especially fans of the Luca Glider and Ninna-Nanna Bassinet and love the simple silhouettes and neutral color palette that permeates their entire collection.

Owner, VP and Director of Brand Development Korie Conant recently picked up the two pieces shown here for the arrival of her new son. “I admire their no frills approach to design,” says Korie. “My husband and I live in a small space and it was important to me that our ‘baby furniture’ fit in with the aesthetic of the rest of our house. Modern furniture traditionally is known for being hard and cold in their look and feel, but Ralph and his team were able to find the happy medium. Clean lines mixed with comfort and coziness.”

With the gift-giving season quickly approaching, we’d like to point out that it is possible to give more than just a great gift this year—you can give a gift to mother nature as well. With the whole push to “go green” there is a wealth of opportunity available to manufacturers that were really hard to come by (or simply cost prohibitive) in previous years. Thankfully these days, you can easily find, purchase and afford stylish organic clothing for little ones, purchase products with packaging that is biodegradable and host of “raw” or healthy food products. Here are a few of our favorite earth-friendly products for your consideration this holiday season:

1. Pangea Organics Body Care: www.pangeaorganics.com
Not only are the products superior to anything I’ve tried in a long time, all of their product boxes are made using what they call a “Zero Waste” process with 100% post-consumer paper and organic seeds like sweet basil and amaranth. All you need to do is slip off the label, soak the packaging in water for a minute and plant it in the earth. Next thing you know, sweet basil will pop up for use at your next meal.

2. Patagonia: www.patagonia.com
Based in our hometown of Ventura, Patagonia has set the ultimate example for responsible manufacturing, conservation and environmentalism. Among many other things, they have given over $20 million in environmental grants, give employees paid leave for activism and believe in using business to inspire solutions to environmental crisis. They have a great selection of winter gear for sports enthusiast of any age and feature garments made of e-fibers (environmentally friendlier fibers), hemp and recycled and recyclable polyester.

The folks over at Bee Raw liken the work they do with honey to that of fine wine vintners—and I tend to believe them. Some reports say the world is facing a honey bee crisis, and my brother, a bee keeper by hobby, is always on me to spread the word that every American has a responsibility to “keep bees” as a result of the alarming dip in the bee population. Thankfully, Bee Raw Honey takes bee keeping seriously and it shows in everything they do. I personally think the honey lover’s in your life would be thrilled to find the 4 Fruit Varietal Honey Flight stuffed in the stocking this year. It’s good raw fun—and better yet—put money into an industry that cares about the well being of bees.

Innovative, simple and modern, Celery Furniture has been one of our favorite finds. As both parents and design enthusiasts who had their fill of assembling products with excessive amounts of screws than they could bear, the people at Celery conceived a line of nursery furniture that involves no hardware, is made from sustainable wood, 100% recycled formaldehyde-free fiberboard and zero to low VOC finishes. The best part…their furniture is designed and fabricated in Montana (one of the most beautiful states in the country IMO) by local craftspeople.

5. Petunia Pickle Bottom Organics: www.petunia.com
My list just wouldn’t be complete without the mention of our new printed Organic Gift Sets that are perfect for the little Petunia in your life.
