Thursday, February 11th, 2010

This year, Petunia Pickle Bottom celebrates their 10 year anniversary by introducing Heirloom by Petunia– a limited edition fabric to celebrate 10 years of striking bold new paths across the fashion landscape for mothers the world over.

DeNaiHoldingBagThe Heirloom by Petunia fabric is a showcase of Petunia’s most adored and iconic patterns, woven into one from the past ten years. Striking a pitch-perfect balance between classic charm and modern sensibility, Petunia’s limited edition 10th anniversary diaper bag will be one that mother’s will want to pass down to future generations.

“I wanted to design a fabric that symbolized a modern day memory quilt for Petunia,” says Denai Jones, President and Founder. “It has been a profound experience to reflect and reminisce about the fabrics from season’s pasts – so many life and company evolutions and experiences inspired the fabrics over the last 10 years. I am looking forward to all the futures journeys and creating fashionable, functional lifestyle products for savvy parents.”

Retail Therapy: It’s Hip To Be Round

Meet our feature store of the month – It’s Hip To Be Round

The girls at It’s Hip to Be Round know what every pregnant mom needs – fabulous finds that allow you to preserve a sense of self and sexiness while your body feels anything but normal! From designer maternity wear and diaper bags to strollers and nursing supplies, It’s Hip To Be Round offers everything moms and moms-to-be crave.

What prompted you to open It’s Hip To Be Round?
I opened It’s Hip to be Round to provide the women of Richmond, VA a fun and friendly place to shop while they are pregnant, and after baby is born too. There was nowhere in Richmond to find great maternity clothes and diaper bags all in the same place, and I knew it could come together for us!

What about your business brings you the most satisfaction?
Helping a pregnant woman who feels not-so-great in her changing (and growing!) body feel better about herself and her wardrobe options.

Top 5 things people are buying today?
(1) Designer maternity jeans-because they don’t feel like giving up exceptional fit that they are used to just because they are pregnant.

(2) Nursing apparel-it has gotten so much better looking, better feeling, and is wearable during pregnancy and after.

(3) Diaper bags-our customers know now that they don’t have to get a utilitarian diaper bag that is heavy and bulky or lightweight and flimsy-that they can get form AND function….they are going for the bags that have multiple carrying methods (especially the Boxy Backpack!), and that stand out as a great bag that just so happens to be a great diaper bag too.

(4) Wrap dresses-they work from the early fat days, through the very end, and in the post-partum fat days that no one warned them about! I have more customers coming back telling me how they are still wearing their favorite maternity clothes nearly a year after they have their babies!

(5) Slings-especially for 2nd timers, who have a toddler to keep up with as well as their newborn. Thanks to the prints and styles available, they are probably more popular right now than the Baby Bjorn was in its heyday!

Retail Therapy: A Bun in the Oven

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

Meet our feature store of the month – A Bun in the Oven.

What’s hot at Florida’s A Bun in the Oven? Cake.

Our new Cake Collection bags are one of the store’s best sellers according to owner Darla. “It’s easy to sell these bags like they are hot out of the oven when you love them just as much as your customers do! Not only are they unique, I also believe that the Cake Collection is more practical and provides more storage than the other diaper bags on the market. Plus it comes with all sorts of goodies in the bag! We find these bags to be the premier bag in our store.”

Meet our feature store of the month – Mulberry Road.

Customer favorites at this Boston baby boutique? Owner Sandy Nelson gives us the top five must-haves for Bostonian moms.

1. The Petunia Glazed Cross Town Clutch – Mom’s and gift givers alike love the functionality of the new glazed fabric, the price point is excellent, and the design is truly unique
2. See Kai Run Shoes – The soles are very flexible for developing toddler feet and the styles are a perfect balance of sophistication and whimsy. They don’t look too “baby” and not too “grown-up”.
3. Oopsy Daisy Artwork – Artwork that will work for any and every nursery. Many customers love the option to personalize their selected pieces too. Quality is excellent and shipping takes only 2-3 weeks.
4. Jelly Cat Stuffed Animals – Incredibly cuddly and endearing characters that make customers want to collect them all.
5. Angel Bear Blankies – I can’t stock enough of these cute animal security blankies. Parents need back-ups and back-ups to keep their baby smiling.

Meet our Featured Store of the month… Serendipity Baby & Co.

We asked founder and owner Krista about her Georgia-based boutique.

What prompted you to open Serendipity Baby & Co.?
I opened Serendipity Baby & Co.on a whim—I had such a rewarding experience decorating the nursery and planning for the arrival of my son, I wanted to bring that same enthusiasm into a retail environment.

4. Upholstered gliders–once you sit in one, you have to have one!
